Broken Ankle
I’ve suffered my first legitimate sport injury, first broken bone(s) ever, during the last indoor soccer game of the season.
I heard 2 pops when I went down so I knew I wasn’t going to get away with a simple ankle sprain, but the X-ray showed a much more chilling story. I had to have surgery to insert a steel plate on the outside ankle bone and several screws on the inside ankle bone in order to hold them back together. Good news is that doctor said I would recover fully in 6 weeks. However I am probably done for the year because wife might break my other leg if I choose to rejoin sports immediately after my recovery ;)

3 weeks a go a i have broke my ankle, fibula and tibia. I was playing soccer, as i was going to my left side, my right foot got stocked on the grass and twisted where i broke a ankle, as body was in motion i broke tibia and fibula in the same time. From soccer field to the emergency room, where they thought that i broke only F&T. ER let me come back home that night (nov. 5-th 2008), and next morning I called a Doctor recommended from ER, after looking XR from last night this doctor told me that i have broken also my ankle. After that he proposed an surgery for next day.
I had surgery next day, 6 screws on the ankle and one 5 inches lower than my knee. i have a plate from my knew till my ankle.
I was released from H 5 days later. i was in lots of pain and i was taking OXYCODONE for pain. I had an half cast for a week after that i have a boot. I still take pain pills one every 6-7h, and PT once every day. 90% of time i spend in bad watching TV, reading and Internet. I didn’t took a shower yet and it sucks with sponge baths. i leave my leg in to the pillow only when i’m eating on the table or using a bathroom, but i’m not putting any pressure.
Its been 3 weeks since operations, and i have 3 more to go until 6 weeks limit of no pressure, i have pain on my ankle the most level 6-7 after i take a pill it drops to 4-5. I have pain and discomfort on my knew and place where Fibula is broken.
I opened my boot just for hygiene purpose and so some red skin around places where screw hols are in to the ankle. I hope after 6 weeks it will not take much more until i start working i cant effort any more getting paid only 60%.
My main concern is i hope plate and 7 screws are accepted and dont need to replace or take them off, also i hope i don’t have any sever arthritis.
If any one had the same injury please let me know: how long pain lasted, how long it took until you start walking with kain, and after how many month you recoverer completely.
